Where: Chestnut Expressway between Ingram Mill Road and Belcrest Avenue west of Route 65 in Springfield
What: Chestnut Expressway CLOSED at night for paving on the east end of the new bridge over the railroad tracks
When: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight (Thursday, Sept. 7) and Friday night, Sept. 8
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
- Chestnut Expressway CLOSED to all traffic during nighttime hours. Chestnut Expressway OPEN during daytime hours.
- Signed detour:
- For eastbound traffic: Belcrest Avenue to Cairo Street to Union Avenue to Cherry Street to Ingram Mill Road
- For westbound traffic: Ingram Mill Road to Cherry Street to Union Avenue to Cairo Street to Belcrest Avenue
Project Facts:
- Build new roads on either side of Chestnut Expressway to provide access to area businesses
- Build a bridge on Chestnut Expressway over the railroad tracks west of Chestnut Expressway
- Install a new traffic signal at Ingram Mill Road and Chestnut Expressway
- Total project cost estimate: $14.8 million
- Completion: Late November 2017
- Partnership project: city of Springfield, Greene County, Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad, MoDOT
