Lane and Ramp Closures Scheduled for Portions of I-70 Beginning Sept. 15

JACKSON COUNTY– The Missouri Department of Transportation will have multiple lane and ramp closures along Interstate 70 beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 until 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18. These lane and ramp closures will have significant impacts on traffic. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead or find alternate routes if necessary. All work is weather permitting.

  • Crews will close the left two lanes of I-70 from approximately the Benton Curve through the I-670 split beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 until 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18. There will be no access to southbound I-35 from westbound I-70. Motorists traveling to southbound I-35 should use the northern leg of the downtown loop.
    • These lane closures will carry through westbound I-670 to just past the 13th Street Ramp.
    • The 13th Street ramp will also be closed.
  • Crews will close the ramp from Charlotte Street to eastbound I-70 beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 until 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
