Route 65: THE REBUILD - Springfield

Update for Week of September 18, 2017
  • Nighttime lane closings on Route 65 between Sunshine and Kearney Streets throughout the week                                            

Work Scheduled:  

  • Installing new guardrail in areas
  • Cleaning up shoulders and other areas 

Traffic Impacts:  

  • NIGHT WORK: One or two lanes of southbound Route 65 closed in areas between Kearney Street and Sunshine Street. Work hours: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday-Friday.
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic
  • ALL LANES OF ROUTE 65 OPEN during daytime hours 

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.) 

Project Summary:

  • Rebuild outside two lanes in both directions of Route 65 between Kearney Street and Sunshine Street
  • Route 65 CLOSED in segments (between interchanges) in one direction at a time from week of July 10 until first of September
  • Northbound closings COMPLETE as of August 27
    • Northbound closed between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway week of August 7 – COMPLETED
    • Northbound closed between Chestnut Expressway and Division Street week of August 14 -- COMPLETED
    • Northbound closed between Division Street and Kearney Street week of August 21 -- COMPLETED
  • Southbound closings COMPLETE as of July 30
    • Southbound closed between Kearney and Division Streets week of July 10 -- COMPLETED
    • Southbound closed between Division Street and Chestnut Expressway week of July 17 – COMPLETED
    • Southbound closed between Chestnut Expressway and Sunshine Street week of July 24 – COMPLETED
  • Rebuild or repair interchange ramps
  • Upgrade guardrail
  • Rebuild outside shoulders
  • Prime Contractor: Millstone Weber, LLC of St. Charles, Mo.
  • Project nearing completion
  • Total Project Cost: $7.9 million
