Missouri Route 79 Bridge Update

Noix Creek Will Open in Early October

HANNIBAL – The Buffalo Creek Bridge and Noix Creek Bridge, located on Missouri Route 79 in Pike County, are both being replaced this year. Both bridges are located just south of Louisiana, Missouri, and were originally built in 1935.

The contractor began working on the Noix Creek Bridge first, and the contractor was given until October 1, 2017, to complete this project. Due to unforeseen circumstances and scheduling issues, the project’s scheduled completion date has been pushed back to October 13, 2017. The contractor is setting girders this coming week and pouring the deck for the bridge soon after. Once the deck has been poured, the bridge will need 10 days to cure. The bridge will be open at that time, but may be limited to one lane with flaggers during the final stage of this project.

Buffalo Creek Bridge is also under construction at this time. The set completion date for Buffalo Creek is November 1, 2017. The contractor’s schedule shows that it is expected to reopen the bridge around that time.
