ST. LOUIS – Crews are expected to complete necessary repairs on Route M and open the roadway by 6 p.m. today.
Crews closed the road in May after heavy rains caused a landslide along the north edge of Route M between I-55 and Route 61/67 in Barnhart. The bank is more than 60 feet tall and had fractures in the slope at least 30 to 40 feet up the hill. During the repair, crews stabilized the hillside and utility poles which were leaning toward the route and causing a hazard to passing motorists.
The repair started in late September and has been completed a week earlier than projected.
