Update for Week of October 30, 2017
- Nighttime lane and ramp closings on Route 65 as crews pave sections of the widened highway
- Timbercrest Road and Ozark Greenways trails underneath Route 65/Springfield Lake bridges scheduled to reopen late in week
Work Scheduled:
- Paving sections of northbound and southbound Route 65 between Springfield Lake and Route 60
- Grading work along ramps on the southbound side of Route 65 at Route 60
- Building concrete barrier wall in Route 65 median north and south of Springfield Lake
- Installing road signs in various locations
- Repairing pavement around Route 65 median storm drain grates
- Cleaning up and applying grass seed and mulch to areas along Timbercrest Road and Ozark Greenways trail underneath Route 65
Traffic Impacts:
- NIGHT WORK:
- Two lanes of northbound Route 65 closed. Work hours: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.
- Two lanes of southbound Route 65 closed. Work hours: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Friday.
- Eastbound Route 60-to-southbound Route 65 and southbound Route 65-to-southbound Route 65 ramps CLOSED. Work hours: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Friday.
- Drivers urged to avoid area during lane and ramp closings. Delays are expected.
- Trucks and other equipment entering and leaving Route 65 median
- Route 65 speed limit reduced to 55 mph in work zone
- ROAD/TRAILS SCHEDULED TO REOPEN:
- Timbercrest Road underneath Route 65, the Galloway Greenways trail and the James River Water trail scheduled to reopen by late in week of Oct. 30
(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.)
Project Summary:
- Widen Route 65 to six lanes — three lanes in each direction — between Route 60 and a point south of Evans Road to continue the progress to six lane Route 65 toward Ozark
- Widen and rehabilitate southbound Route 65 bridge over Lake Springfield to accommodate new lanes and to lengthen eastbound Route 60-to-southbound Route 65 ramp
- Replace northbound Route 65 bridge over Lake Springfield with new, wider span to replace old bridge in constant need of repair
- Extend northbound Route 65 ramps to Route 60
- Prime Contractor: Emery Sapp and Sons, Columbia
- Project nearing completion
- Total Project Cost: $21 million
