North Fabius Bridge Is Now Open on Missouri Route 16 in Lewis County

HANNIBAL – North Fabius River Bridge located on Missouri Route 16 in Lewis County, just west of Monticello, is now open to traffic after being closed July 5th for replacement.  The new bridge is 28 feet wide, which is 8 feet wider than the old bridge, and is striped as two lanes.  There will still be some clean up work in the area, so motorists may have one lane controlled by workers flagging.  Please drive carefully.

Bleigh Construction Company of Palmyra, Missouri was the contractor that completed the project, in conjunction with the Middle Fabius Bridge replacement, completed last week.  Together, the bridge replacements cost Missouri taxpayers almost $2.7 million.

The Middle Fabius opened to traffic on Wednesday, November 1st.

“We are pleased to finally have these bridges open to motorists, and appreciate everyone’s patience during the construction period,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Amy Crawford. “There are now two safer bridges in place for motorists to use for years to come,” she added.
