MORGAN COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation is holding an online public meeting to share information about an upcoming project that will replace two bridges in Morgan County– the Route BB bridge over Middle Richland Creek and the Route PP bridge over Messer Creek.
MoDOT is seeking input from the public about this project online at: http://www.modot.org/central/MorganCountyBridges.htm. On the webpage, area residents can find information and make comments about the project. The online public meeting will run from Nov. 21-Dec. 6.
The Route BB bridge is located approximately four miles west of Route D, and the Route PP bridge is located approximately a mile east of Route D. The Middle Richland Creek bridge was built in 1955, and the Messer Creek bridge was constructed in 1962. Both bridges are currently rated in poor condition. Both of the new bridges will be four feet wider than the current bridges.
The project is expected to be awarded in the spring of 2018.
During construction, the Route BB bridge will be closed for up to three months. A signed detour of Route N to Route 52 to Route D will be set up during construction. The cost of the Route BB bridge replacement is approximately $700,000.
The Route PP bridge will also be closed for up to three months. Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes around the construction. The expected cost of the Route PP replacement is $500,000.
