MOUND CITY, Mo. – The bridge deck work on two bridges in Holt County, just south of Mound City that disrupted area traffic for several months is wrapping up. In July, contractors from Comanche Construction, Inc. of Olathe, Kansas, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, began the first phase of the project to rehabilitate the Davis Creek bridges and fill in the old railroad bridges just south of Exit 84.
For a large part of the project, the southbound ramp from Route 118 at Mound City onto southbound Interstate 29 was closed and a signed detour routed motorists around the ramp closure.
After installing rumble strips and striping, the contractor plans to remove all barriers and open all lanes of I-29 by the close of business today.
There may be other work both on and off the roadway around the bridges as the contractor completes the project. MoDOT encourages all motorists to slow down, buckle up, eliminate distractions and drive safely to ensure motorists and workers alike are able to Arrive Alive.
