PHELPS COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation is holding an online public meeting to share information about an upcoming project that will resurface Interstate 44 in Phelps County from Hazelgreen to Doolittle and apply a surface treatment to the bridges at Exit 172 (Route D) to Jerome and Dixon.
MoDOT is seeking input from the public about this project online at: www.modot.org/central/PhelpsI44Improvements.htm. The online public meeting will run from Dec. 28, 2017-Jan. 11, 2018.
Construction is scheduled to take place in 2018. Work may begin as early as March 2018 and must be completed by October 2019. More information about the project timeline will be provided once a contract is awarded.
Traffic will be maintained on I-44 during resurfacing. There will be times when the on-ramp to I-44 from Route D and the off-ramp to Route D from I-44 will be closed to traffic while the surface treatment is being completed on the bridges. The off-ramp will be closed for up to 35 days and the on-ramp will be closed for as many as 45 days during the work. During these two ramp closures, traffic will be detoured to the Route J interchange to the west.
The total project cost is an estimated $14.4 million.
