Where: Chestnut Expressway west of new railroad bridge between Ingram Mill Road and Belcrest Avenue west of Route 65 in Springfield
What: Chestnut Expressway CLOSED to allow dump trucks to haul rock and dirt from the south side of the road to the northwest side of the new bridge
When: 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
- Chestnut Expressway CLOSED to all traffic at bridge
- Signed detour:
- For eastbound traffic: Belcrest Avenue to Cairo Street to Union Avenue to Cherry Street to Ingram Mill Road
- For westbound traffic: Ingram Mill Road to Cherry Street to Union Avenue to Cairo Street to Belcrest Avenue
- Access remains open to ALL businesses in the area
Project Facts:
- Build new roads on either side of Chestnut Expressway to provide access to area businesses
- Build a bridge on Chestnut Expressway over the railroad tracks west of Chestnut Expressway
- Install a new traffic signal at Ingram Mill Road and Chestnut Expressway
- Total project cost estimate: $14.8 million
- Completion: Late February/early March 2018
- Partnership project: city of Springfield, Greene County, Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad, MoDOT
