U.S. Route 63 Resurfacing Project Awarded in Adair and Macon Counties

MACON – The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded a contract to Chester Bross of Palmyra, Missouri, for a resurfacing project on U.S. Route 63 in Adair and Macon Counties. The project on the northbound lanes begins approximately 2 miles north of Missouri Route 156 in Macon County to 2.6 miles north of Adair County Route KK. The southbound work will begin 1.5 miles north of MO 156 and go to 1.3 miles south of Macon County Route M. The total cost of the project is $2,951,395.

“Crews will be milling out the existing surface and placing a new asphalt surface,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Haeffner.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone while the work is completed. The work could begin as early as this spring and should be completed before next fall.

“A more specific schedule will be shared after the contractor provides his plan for completing the work,” Haeffner added.
