New Champ Clark Bridge Retaining Wall Selection

Your vote is needed

HANNIBAL – Massman Construction, the contractor designing and building the new Champ Clark Bridge, is seeking input from area residents about an important design element concerning where the new bridge will connect to Missouri Route 79 near Ayerco.  “The new bridge is being built just south of the existing bridge and will come into Missouri near the rock bluff behind the Ayerco station,” said Michael Massman, design-build coordinator for the construction company. “To make room for the new approach, crews will remove some of the bluff and secure the remaining portion to ensure it stays intact for decades to come.

In order to do this, a retaining wall is needed,” he explained, and went on to add there are two choices of textures and three choices of color.  “It is important we have the input of the community and those interested in the Champ Clark Bridge,” he noted.  The decision will be based on all votes, and will be announced in early February through local media and on social media.
