HANNIBAL - With expected snowfall of 1/2 to 1 1/2 inched in Northeast Missouri, the Missouri Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to plan ahead for their overnight and Monday morning travel. “We will have plows on the roads overnight, yet depending on the storm, the accumulations, and the blowing and drifting, it is a good idea to plan extra time for travel,” said MoDOT Maintenance and Traffic Engineer Jennifer Hinson.
“The online traveler information map shows the condition of all major roads, and is they are covered to partly covered, residents can expect the smaller state roads to be the same,” Hinson said. She reminds Missouri drivers the priority in plowing starts with major roads, hills and curves. “Every storm is a little different, so we gauge it as we go, she explained. Minor roads will be plowed when major roads have been taken care of, but we will be treating hils and curves.

Driving safely means driving for conditions, and no matter the condition, everyone in the vehicles should be buckled in and the driver should refrain from any cell phone use.
