Public Hearing set for St. Charles Rock Road safety improvement project in North St. Louis County

ST. LOUIS – People wanting to provide input on the St. Charles Rock Road (Route 180) safety improvement project from I-170 to the St. Louis City limits will get their chance next month. The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing on Thursday, February 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Normandy High School located at 6701 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Louis, MO 63133.

Some of the proposed improvements from this safety project include:

  • Pavement resurfacing and new pavement markings
  • Adding sidewalks to accommodate pedestrians
  • Adding mid-block pedestrian crossings
  • Drainage system improvements
  • Adding dedicated bike lanes throughout most of the corridor
  • A lane reduction between Normandy Avenue and the St. Louis City limits

No formal presentations will be made during the open house-style hearing. The public may stop by at any time during the advertised hours and speak with MoDOT and consultant staff about the project.

Attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback by completing a comment form in writing or providing a statement on a tape recorder. In addition, a virtual public meeting will be available online at tinyurl.com/NorthCountyProjects from February 1 to February 8.
