ST. LOUIS – Drivers who use the I-44 north outer road in Valley Park will need to allow a little extra time to get around next week.
The Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor, Pace Construction, will close the north outer road between eastern and western roundabouts on February 1 and 2, daily between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Drivers will still be able to access the park and ride lot for commuting and carpooling, but Metro will move their bus service to the Stratford Inn, 800 South Highway Drive, for February 1 and 2.
This closure will let crews place girders for the new flyover ramp from Route 141 over the nearby Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks and the outer road.
During the daily closures:
- Drivers on the east side of Route 141 who need to get to the west side of Route 141 will detour at the east roundabout and cross Route 141 using north highway drive to get to the western roundabout. Flaggers will guide traffic heading to the park and ride lot.
- Drivers on the west side of Route 141 who need to get to Route 141 will use the west roundabout to get to north highway drive and take westbound I-44 to Antire Road where they can turn around and head east on I-44 to get to Route 141. Flaggers will guide drivers between the roundabout and North Highway Drive.
- To get from northbound or southbound Route 141 to areas off the north outer road to the east, take Route 141 and turn onto South Highway Drive and bear to the right. Take South Highway Drive to the Maritz overpass, turn left and then turn left onto North Highway Drive. Take North Highway Drive to the roundabout and access the north outer road.
- To get from northbound or southbound Route 141 to areas off the north outer road to the west, take Route 141 to the North Highway Drive and use that to get to the roundabout on the west side.
