Taney County – The Route 76 bridge over Beaver Creek in Brownbranch is set to close to traffic on Thursday, Feb. 8, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Prior to the closing of the Beaver Creek bridge, the Kentucky Creek bridge on Route 76 will reopen to traffic. Contractor crews must complete work on building bridge walls and installing guardrail at the bridge before opening it to traffic.
Work on the Beaver Creek bridge includes removing the existing bridge and replacing it with a new span.
The work is part of a three bridge replacement project on Route 76 east of Bradleyville. The first bridge over Kentucky Creek is nearing completion and will be OPEN to traffic prior to the closing of the Beaver Creek bridge.
The last bridge set for replacement is over Caney Creek. The work on the Caney Creek bridge will not occur until the Beaver Creek is open to traffic in late June.
Route 76 Traffic Impacts:
During construction of the Beaver Creek bridge, there will be no temporary bypass for local traffic.
A signed detour is in place using Route 76, Douglas County Route T, Christian County Route UU and Route 125.
Bridge Replacement Projects Overview:
- Kentucky Creek bridge scheduled to OPEN prior to Feb. 8, 2018. A temporary gravel bypass is open for local traffic ONLY. All other traffic must follow the signed detour.
- Beaver Creek bridge is scheduled for replacement between Feb. 8, 2018 and late June. Route 76 east of Taney County Route W at Brownbranch will be CLOSED to all traffic during its replacement
- Caney Creek bridge is scheduled for replacement between late June/early July and early October 2018. A temporary gravel bypass will be built at the Caney Creek bridge for local traffic. All other traffic must follow the signed detour.
All three bridges are located between Route 125 at Bradleyville and a point east of Taney County Route W at Brownbranch.
The estimated total cost for the three projects is $4.9 million.
The prime contractor on the project is Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. of Columbia.
The overall completion date for the project is Dec. 31, 2018.
