MEDIA ADVISORY: Missouri Mayors Show Support for Buckle Up/Phone Down Initiative

                                                                                            

 

JEFFERSON CITY -  Mayors from cities throughout the state will join together at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14 to show their support for the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Buckle Up/Phone Down campaign, which is aimed at combating distracted driving and promoting seat belt use.

Jefferson City Mayor Carrie Tergin will be joined by Kansas City Mayor Sly James, Springfield Mayor Ken McClure and Florissant Mayor Tom Schneider at a news briefing scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14 in the east parking lot of the Capitol Plaza Hotel, 415 W. McCarty St., Jefferson City. The news briefing will follow the Missouri Municipal League’s annual legislative conference.

Jaylen Butner, a Boonville High School student, will share his personal crash experience and how his seat belt saved his life. Jennifer Peck, vice president of Marketing and Communication with Missouri Employers Mutual, will talk about the company’s efforts to combat distracted driving.
