Rehab work set to begin on the Route 291 Bridge in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation is set to begin rehabilitation of the Route 291 Bridge at the Jackson/Clay County line, just south of Old 210. The project has been awarded to Clarkson Construction Company.

Crews will close the left lanes of northbound and southbound Route 291 Bridge beginning Monday, Feb. 19 and will remain that way throughout the duration of the project. During the closures, crews will be building the crossovers in the median.

Once the crossover work is complete, the traffic configuration for this project will be head to head traffic on the southbound portion of the 291 Bridge only. The new configuration will begin the first weekend of March.

This will be the permanent configuration until the replacement of the bridge is complete. Work is scheduled to be complete by mid-June. All work is weather dependent.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
