Demolition work will cause closures near I-435 at Route 210

CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will soon resume work on the Route 210 and I-435 Interchange Improvement Project in Clay County.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 crews will close the flyover ramp to westbound Route 210 in preparation for bridge demo the weekend of March 2. This flyover ramp will be permanently closed. Motorists wishing to travel westbound will need to exit at Route 210 and I-435, and then turn left at the traffic signal.

In addition, crews will close all northbound and southbound lanes of I-435 at Route 210 from 10 p.m. Friday, March 2 through 5 a.m. Monday, March 5 to complete the demolition of the Route 210 flyover ramp.

Southbound traffic of I-435 will be completely closed at Route 210 and northbound traffic will be closed at Front St. The southbound on-ramp to I-435 from Route 210 will also be closed during the same time period. Traffic will be detoured to I-35 for both directions. All work is weather dependent.

This is all part of a project to build a new diverging diamond interchange for I-435 and Route 210, which includes replacing the old twin bridges over I-435 and Route 210 and widening I-435.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
