LACLEDE COUNTY – Recent rainfall has caused sections of pavement on Interstate 44 between mile markers 135-145 to become distressed.
Missouri Department of Transportation maintenance crews are already on site working to make emergency repairs to the pavement. One lane of the interstate will be closed in areas on I-44 to allow for the repairs.
This will be a moving operation, covering about 10 miles, so motorists should expect to encounter stopped or slow-moving trucks with flashing lights along the work zone area. MoDOT would like to remind travelers that workers are present between the trucks when the caravan is stopped. We strongly urge motorists to stay alert, slow down and drive cautiously when they encounter these caravans.
Large amounts of rainfall this week has also made flooding possible in low-lying areas of mid Missouri this weekend, so MoDOT recommends motorists check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map, located at www.modot.org, or call the department’s toll free number, 1-888-ASK-MODOT, to get up to date road conditions before hitting the road.
