HANNIBAL - As construction on the I-70 Warrenton Interchange progresses, the Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor, Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc., will set girders on the new bridge overpass overnight tonight, March 6, sometime between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. "While each girder is being lifted into place, both lanes will be closed for no longer than 15 minutes," explained MoDOT Area Engineer Erik Maninga. He explained that also over night, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., eastbound driving lane will be closed. "Efforts will be made to reopen the passing lane as soon as it is safe," Maninga added. Drivers are encouraged to wear their seat belts and discouraged from using a cell phone, especially in highway work zones.
The new interchange is being fully funded with a sales tax passed by residents in the city of Warrenton.
