The Phelps County Route B bridge over the Bourbeuse River will be replaced under a contract awarded today by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. The project was awarded to Lehman Construction, which submitted the low bid of $1,808,563.
The new bridge will be built on the east side of the existing bridge, located approximately 10 miles north of St. James. While traffic will not be initially impacted by the construction, Route B will be closed for 35 days near the end of the project to connect the new bridge to the existing roadway.
Work on the bridge will begin this spring. When a start date is established, MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media.
