Public Invited to Meeting About Missouri Route 161 Bridge Replacement

Bridge over Interstate 70 near Danville in Montgomery County

MACON – Drivers using Missouri Route 161 in Montgomery County can look forward to a new bridge/overpass at Interstate 70 near Danville by this fall.   The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the bridge replacement project to Lehman Construction, LLC for their bid of $2,192,595.   A public informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 28 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Montgomery County R-II High School located near Montgomery City.  This is an open-house style meeting, so individuals may stop by anytime in that time to visit with MoDOT representatives about the project.

Construction is expected to start sometime this spring or summer, and the bridge/overpass will close at that time. The official completion date for the project is November 1.

“There are multiple phases to this project that will affect ramps along the road, as well as, Interstate 70,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Erik Maninga, P.E. “We encourage individuals to stop by the informational meeting, as well as, sign up for email and text alerts to stay up-to-date on the project,” he added.

Maninga said there will be detours signed as the phases of the project are completed.

The date of the closure will not be known until later this spring, and MoDOT will keep area drivers informed through local media.  Those interested can also subscribe to the email and text notification system at https://www6.modot.mo.gov/eMoDOTWeb/jsp/signon/signon.jsp.
