HANNIBAL – Drivers who use Routes E and F in Marion County will now encounter a different place to stop at the intersection. March 12, Missouri Department of Transportation crews moved a stop sign from Marion County Route F at the northeast quadrant of the intersection of Route F and Marion County Route E, near Woodland, to the northwest quadrant of the intersection on Route E where the road bends. (photo attached) “The sign had to be moved due to the railroad providing new crossing gates for safety,” explained MoDOT Traffic Specialist Danny Behl. The work was weather dependent, and crews had to wait for the ground temperature to rise before being able to stripe the roadway.
Other work that took place at the intersection on March 12 was adding double yellow striping so drivers cannot pass at the intersection, relocating a few route marker signs, and removing some of the former striping.
There will also be a new stop ahead sign installed on Route E before the intersection. A date has not yet been determined on when the new sign will be placed.
