LEE’S SUMMIT – The Missouri Department of Transportation will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction on the northbound (east half) side of the Douglas Street Bridge over Interstate 470 beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 26. The southbound (west half) lanes of Douglas Street over I-470 will remain closed until approximately mid-June. This lane reduction and shift in traffic is so that crews can demolish and reconstruct the west half (southbound) of the Douglas Street Bridge over I-470. This project will be completed in two phases with Phase 1 reconstructing the west half of the bridge until mid-June, and Phase 2 reconstructing the east half of the bridge.
- Semi-trucks will NOT be allowed to turn left from westbound I-470 off ramp onto southbound Douglas Street during Phase 1 of construction.
- Traffic WILL be able to turn left onto the westbound I-470 on ramp from northbound Douglas Street.
- There will be two right turn lanes from southbound Douglas Street onto westbound I-470.
Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
