MoDOT to close lane on eastbound I-44/northbound I-55 south of PSB next week

ST. LOUIS – People heading into downtown next week should be aware that MoDOT will have one lane closed around the clock on eastbound I-44/northbound I-55 between Park and Walnut next week.

Crews will be working on drainage on the interstate bridge between Park and Walnut. The ramp to Walnut will be closed daily, but will remain open between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. weekdays.

This will lead into the second weekend closure of eastbound I-44/northbound I-55 between Park and the Poplar Street Bridge/I-64 that starts at 7 p.m. Friday, March 23.

That night, crews will close:

  • Northbound I-55 at I-44 at 8 p.m. The detour will be marked.
  • I-44 at the exit to 7th and Park/Broadway at 8 p.m. The detour will be marked.
  • The ramp from EB I-44 /NB I-55 to Walnut will be closed at 7 p.m.
  • The ramp from 8th and Marion to eastbound I-44/northbound I-55 will be closed at 7 p.m.
  • The ramp from northbound I-55 to Gravois at 7 p.m.
  • The ramp from eastbound I-44/northbound I-55 to the Poplar Street Bridge at 7 p.m.

Eastbound I-44 traffic will exit at 7th and Park. Northbound I-55 will exit to westbound I-44 or to the Lafayette/Truman interchange.

During the closure, crews will be repairing pavement and drainage on the bridge over 3rd Street between the I-44/I-55 split and the Poplar Street Bridge/eastbound I-64.

All lanes, including the lane closed between Park and Walnut, are expected to be open by 5 a.m. Monday.

There may be additional off-peak lane closures to complete work on the project this spring.

Work is weather permitting.
