Several Roads Opening and Closing

Flash Flooding, Rainfall Continues

HANNIBAL - The Missouri Department of Transportation is continuing to close roads due to flash flooding across northeast Missouri.  Counties that have closed roads include Montgomery, Monroe, Lincoln, Randolph, Shelby, Pike and Ralls.  "All major roads are now open, yet we still have several small roads that have water across them and are closed," said MoDOT Traffic Operations Engineer Rob Frese.  He added that while the rain does appear to be leaving the area, crews will have to inspect the previously flooded roads and remove debris, as well as determine any repairs that need to be made.  "Because there will be variables related to these openings and closings, the best source of information is the traveler information map, which show which roads are closed due to flooding," he explained.  The map can be found on the home page of modot.org.

MoDOT reminds drivers to never drive through water that is covering the road, always wear a seat belt, and never use your phone while driving.
