Cole Camp, Benton County – Area residents are invited to learn more about a project to replace the Benton County Route B bridge over Indian Creek at a public meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 5, in Cole Camp, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Cole Camp R-1 school cafeteria, 500 S. Keeney Street. The meeting will be come-and-go style with NO formal presentation.
MoDOT representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the construction timeline and traffic impacts for the project.
Those unable to attend the public meeting time can visit www.modot.org/southwest and view information about the project.
Replacement of the old bridge is scheduled for 2019. During construction, Route B will be CLOSED at the bridge and traffic will be detoured using Missouri Route 52 and Benton County Route W. Local residents will have access to entrances on either side of the bridge, but will not be able to cross the bridge until the project is complete.
The project is estimated to cost $900,000 and will replace the current single-lane bridge with a new wider two-lane structure.
The Indian Creek bridge, south of Cole Camp, was built in 1935 and is experiencing severe deterioration and is too narrow for current traffic. Nearly 630 vehicles a day cross the bridge.
