Opening of Chestnut Expressway at New RR Bridge POSTPONED UNTIL Friday Morning, April 6

OPENING OF Chestnut Expressway at the new railroad bridge to FOUR lanes postponed due to cold temperature. OPENING rescheduled for Friday morning, April 6.

Where: Chestnut Expressway between Ingram Mill Road and Belcrest Avenue west of Route 65 in Springfield 

What: Chestnut Expressway OPEN TO FOUR LANES – TWO LANES IN EACH DIRECTION 

When: After 6 a.m. Friday, April 6 

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

  • Chestnut Expressway OPEN TO FOUR LANES between Ingram Mill Road and Belcrest Avenue west of Route 65
  • Lane closings are possible at times to allow crews to complete needed work as the project draws to a close 

Project Facts:

  • Build new roads on either side of Chestnut Expressway to provide access to area businesses
  • Build a bridge on Chestnut Expressway over the railroad tracks west of Chestnut Expressway
  • Install a new traffic signal at Ingram Mill Road and Chestnut Expressway
  • Total project cost estimate: $14.8 million
  • Project nearing completion
  • Partnership project: city of Springfield, Greene County, Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad, MoDOT
