HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, a resurfacing project on Missouri Route 47 between Hawk Point and Troy in Lincoln County will begin Tuesday evening, April 10, at 7:00 p.m. The resurfacing of all lanes begins near the intersection of Route A and Route D in Hawk Point and ends just west of the Route H and Route J intersection in Troy. The total length of the project is 6.7 miles and the total cost is $599,044.71. The project was awarded to Chester Bross Construction of Palmyra, Missouri.
“Due to the low temperatures and winter weather conditions we’ve experienced this spring, this project had to be postponed until the roadways reached a warmer temperature and dryer conditions,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Erik Maninga. The resurfacing will begin this Tuesday and should be completed within a month. The lane closures will only occur during the evenings between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. and a pilot car will be in use to guide traffic through the work zone.
Other than the resurfacing portion of this project, two feet of curve widening will be added to the reverse curves at the intersection with Lincoln County Route AA, and the other is approximately 1 mile west of Route AA.
“This is a preventive maintenance project to improve the pavement condition of the highway. We received safety funds to do the limited curve widening at the reverse curves, but widening the entire road would cost several million dollars,” explained Maninga.
