MoDOT to shift EB I-44 traffic between Hampton and Grand tomorrow

ST. LOUISThe work to shift eastbound I-44 traffic in St. Louis City that was cancelled earlier this week has been rescheduled for tomorrow.

All work is weather permitting.

Crews will move three lanes of eastbound traffic between Tower Grove and Grand onto the westbound lanes of I-44 after morning rushon  Friday April 13, as part of continuing work to renovate or replace several bridges. The ramp from eastbound I-44 to Vandeventer will also close for the remainder of the year.

Crews are now expecting to close 39th Street under the interstate on Tuesday, April 17, again weather permitting, to remove the interstate bridge. 39th Street will remain closed to all traffic as crews demolish the old bridge. Vehicle traffic may detour on Grand, Vandeventer or Tower Grove; pedestrian and cycling traffic can use Thurman as a detour route.

This work replaces interstate bridges at Kingshighway, Thurman and 39th Street and rehabilitates interstate bridges over Vandeventer, Tower Grove and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. Ultimately, the department will close one lane in each direction and shift traffic around the bridge work through early 2020.
