As we hopefully bid farewell to winter, the white snow is replaced with green grass, spring flowers and…trash. From food wrappers to cans, to bottles and trash of all shapes and sizes, litter is making its presence known along mid-Missouri roadways. Those taking part in the state’s “No MOre Trash! Bash,” which runs through May 15, are working to eliminate that trash.
For 16 years, the No MOre Trash! Bash has encouraged Missourians to help Missouri become a litter-free state. Adopt-A-Highway volunteers are a big part of the effort, collecting more than 43,000 bags last year and saving the state more than $1 million in litter removal. Thanks to those volunteers, MoDOT can devote more resources to other critical areas.
“If you’re searching for a rewarding activity for you, your family, church, friends or organization, adopting a section of the Show-Me state might just be the answer,” said MoDOT Central District Engineer David Silvester. “We invite you to join in our efforts by visiting MoDOT.org today!”
