Intersection Now Open Near Osborn

OSBORN, Mo. – The access between the east and westbound lanes of U.S. Route 36 at the Route 33 and Route M junction is now open. Contractors closed the access Wednesday, April 11, and were able to reopen it late yesterday afternoon. During the closure, some turns were prohibited, but all turning restrictions have now been lifted.

The closure was part of a project to rebuild and resurface portions of U.S. Route 36. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Herzog Contracting Corporation to complete the project.

To rebuild a portion of the westbound U.S. Route 36 near the Route 33/Route M junction, westbound traffic will move head to head with eastbound traffic in the eastbound lanes.

The head-to-head traffic switch is tentatively scheduled for April 24. It will continue until just before the July 4th holiday. Towards the end of this phase, access to Route 33 North will be closed to all traffic while a new intersection is constructed.

All work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled.

MoDOT encourages all travelers to slow down, especially in work zones, as there will be large equipment and workers near the driving lanes. As always, please buckle up, eliminate distractions, pay attention and drive safely so everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
