Route P at Route 61 to Close for Three Months

Traffic on Northbound Route 61 to Be Shifted

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close access from Route 61 to Route P in St. Charles County for three months starting next week.  In addition, traffic on northbound Route 61 will be shifted to allow crews to continue work on the new overpass being built on Route 61 between Route P and Peine Road.

Crews will close one lane of northbound Route 61 before Route P on Monday, April 30 at 8 p.m.  When the lanes reopen at 5 a.m., traffic on northbound Route 61 will be shifted and drivers will no longer be able to access Route P.  Drivers can take Grothe Road to Route P to detour around the closure.

The only exception is for the businesses at the intersection of Route P and Route 61.  A temporary bypass from Route 61 will be open to access those locations only.  There will be no access to Route P from the temporary bypass.  The work is part of the project to add a new interchange on Route 61 between Route P and Peine Road.  For more information on the project go to http://www.modot.org/stlouis/major_projects/Route61SafetyProject.htm
