Springfield, Greene County – Work begins the week of April 30 to relocate Eastgate Avenue south of Chestnut Expressway to a point east of its current location, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Initially, there will be little impact to traffic as crews begin clearing the area of trees and brush to begin the actual relocation work.
In mid-May, Eastgate Avenue south of Chestnut Expressway will CLOSE for several weeks as crews connect the existing roadway into the newly relocated section. During the closing, drivers will have to use nearby streets to get to their destinations. No signed detour is planned.
The new Eastgate Avenue/Chestnut Expressway intersection is being moved to the east. The relocation of Eastgate north of Chestnut Expressway is being done by a business developer and is being overseen by the City of Springfield. MoDOT and the City are coordinating the work on Eastgate Avenue at Chestnut Expressway.
APAC-Central, Inc. of Fayetteville, Ark. is the prime contractor on the project.
The estimated total project cost is $581,000.
The work is scheduled to be completed by late August 2018.
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
