Ozark, Christian County – The speed limit on Jackson Street/3rd Street which carries Route 14/Business 65 through downtown Ozark is set to increase to 35 mph starting the week of May 7, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The existing speed limit on Route 14/Business 65 between 9th west of the Finley River and Wren Street south of the Ozark City Square is 25 mph.
After a recent request from an Ozark resident to take a look at the speed limit on Route 14/Business 65, MoDOT traffic engineers determined that 85% of drivers were traveling faster than the 25 mph posted speed limit with a relatively low crash rate along this stretch of Route 14/Business 65.
MoDOT worked with the city of Ozark and its police department on the changes and they are supportive of the speed limit increase.
The speed limit will be increased immediately following the installation of new 35 mph signs along the stretch of Jackson Street/3rd Street which should occur the week of May 7.
