Glenstone Avenue Pavement Rebuild Project

Focus of May 15 Public Meeting

Springfield, Greene County – Area residents are invited to a May 15 public meeting to learn more about the schedule for rebuilding four separate sections of Glenstone Avenue pavement in Springfield starting after the Memorial Day holiday, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Those who attend the public meeting will learn more about the project schedule and traffic impacts by visiting with MoDOT and contractor representatives from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, at the MoDOT Southwest District Office, 3025 E. Kearney Street in Springfield. The meeting will be come-and-go style with NO FORMAL PRESENTATION planned. Those who attend can come at any time during the meeting.

Those unable to attend the May 15 public meeting can view the same exhibits at an online public meeting at www.modot.org/southwest

The locations where the 1950s-era concrete pavement on Glenstone Avenue will be rebuilt are:

  • At Evergreen Street south of I-44
  • At Kearney Street
  • North of Commercial Street underneath the railroad bridge
  • Between Lombard Street and Page Street

Contractor crews are planning to start the work at Evergreen Street and at Kearney Street the week following Memorial Day with completion of those two sections by the July 4th holiday.

The sections near Commercial Street and near Lombard Street will be rebuilt later in the summer.

The pavement rebuild project will take place using lane closings for extended periods of time. There are NO plans to completely close Glenstone Avenue to complete the work. However, side streets may be closed and right and left turns on Glenstone Avenue will be restricted at times. The Glenstone Avenue/Kearney Street intersection will be closed for up to 60 hours over two weekends to complete the work. More information about the exact dates for the closings will be announced later.

The estimated total project cost is $3.7 million.

The prime contractor is Millstone Weber, LLC. of St. Charles.

The completion date of the project is November 1, 2018. However, the contractor plans to have the project completed by early fall.
