MoDOT Begins Extensive Bridges Project on Route E and Route H on I-70

MAYVIEW – The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin work on a pair of bridge replacements on Interstate 70 near Mayveiw, MO, beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 14.  Initial work will include rebuilding the shoulders on the eastbound lanes. Traffic in the eastbound lanes will be REDUCED to one lane until 3 p.m. on May 17.

This project will replace Route E and Route H bridges over the next few months. The Route E bridges were originally constructed in 1959, widened in 1988 and rehabilitated in 2012. The Route H bridge was constructed in 1960. In January 2013, the bridge received a deck rating and superstructure rating of 3 (serious condition) and was slated for replacement. More than 30,000 drivers cross through this stretch of I-70 every day so keeping the interstate smooth and safe is paramount.

The Missouri Department of Transportation urges all motorists to always wear safety belts, follow posted speed limits and be alert for slowed traffic, narrowed lanes or a reduced number of lanes during construction and maintenance work. And remember, every work zone is a NO PHONE ZONE.
