ST. LOUIS – After nearly two years of construction, the new flyover ramp from southbound Route 141 to eastbound I-44 is projected to open on Saturday morning.
Crews will close one lane on northbound and southbound Route 141 at I-44 between 7 p.m. Friday, May 11 and 5 a.m. Saturday, May 12.
When the lanes reopen, the flyover ramp from southbound Route 141 to eastbound I-44 will be open. Southbound drivers can enter eastbound I-44 faster by using the new ramp on the right side of the highway. There will still be a left turn lane to South Highway Drive, but it will be reduced from two lanes to one and will get less signal time as part of on-going improvements to the interchange.
This will be the second of several changes coming to the Route 141 and I-44 interchange as part of continuing work to improve the flow of traffic around the interchange. A new ramp from northbound Route 141 to westbound I-44 opened two weeks ago. By the end of May, the new loop ramp from westbound I-44 to southbound Route 141 will open.
Drivers traveling around the Route 141 and I-44 interchange should slow down and pay attention for the next several weeks as they, and other travelers, get used to the new traffic patterns.
