ST. LOUIS – A stretch of Interstate 44 in Franklin County will be closed overnight next week so crews can demolish the St. Mary’s Road bridge over the interstate.
St. Mary’s Road over I-44 will close on Friday, May 18 at 7 a.m. for three months while crews replace the bridge. Then at 7 p.m. that night crews will close one lane on westbound I-44 at Route 100 (Washington) to begin taking down the bridge. All lanes of westbound I-44 will close at 1 a.m. Saturday, May 19. The interstate will reopen by 4 a.m. Drivers can detour around the closure by taking Route 100 (Washington) to Route AT to Route 50 and back to I-44.
On Saturday, May 19 at 7 p.m. crews will close one lane on eastbound I-44 at Route O and all lanes on Sunday, May 20 at 1 a.m. All lanes will reopen by 4 a.m. Drivers can detour around that closure by taking Route O to Route AT to I-44.
The St. Mary’s Road bridge will remain closed through the middle of August. To detour around the bridge closure, drivers can take Route O to Route AT.
