Work Update for the Interstate 70 Interchange in Warren County

HANNIBAL – The deck of the new Interstate 70 bridge in Warren County was poured on May 7, and now the contractor, Emery Sapp & Sons, will be working on the barrier curbs for the next couple of weeks.  The next phase of the bridge work will be adding a sidewalk, decorative fence and lighting across the bridge.  The contractor has also made great progress installing a new water line for an irrigation system on the south side of the interchange, including the installation of fire hydrants from the south roundabout toward the east roundabout; that work will continue along with work on the east roundabout during the next several weeks.  Route MM and the new outer roadway on the south side of I-70 is expected to open at the end of June.

The westbound lanes of I-70 will remain reduced to a width of ten feet for the foreseeable future.  Please remember to use caution when traveling through this work zone and obey personnel and signage.

Construction on the project began in late September and is expected to take 13 months to be completed. Emery Sapp & Sons was awarded the contract for $8,551,941.42, and the project is fully funded by the city of Warrenton. MoDOT will own and maintain the new interchange once construction is finished. The project will not only include a new interchange, but also three roundabouts, with two on the either end of the overpass to connect the ramps and south outer road, and the other one connecting Route MM to Veterans Memorial Parkway.
