ST. LOUIS – Crews will have close the outside lanes on Adelaide over I-70 indefinitely as they evaluate and make a plan to repair the bridge after a truck carrying an excavator collided with it this afternoon.
Crews will have the right lane closed in each direction on Adelaide between the ramps for eastbound and westbound I-70. Crews are currently evaluating the extent of the needed repairs and will work on a plan to implement those repairs to reopen the bridge.
Crews will close lanes on westbound I-70 to complete inspections of the bridge, starting at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 19.
Pedestrians will still be allowed across the bridge at this time. Although the bridge does remain open, large truck traffic is encouraged to use Carrie or Grand instead of Adelaide at this time.
The remaining lanes on the bridge are safe. If MoDOT believed any portion of the bridge was unsafe for traffic, they would close that portion.
