JACKSON COUNTY– The Missouri Department of Transportation will CLOSE Pittman Road, Crysler Avenue, and Phelps Road over Interstate 70 beginning on Tuesday, May 29 until approximately Thursday, Nov. 1. These closures are for bridge replacements of all three bridges over I-70. Motorists must use the signed detours or find an alternate route. All work is weather permitting.
- There will be a complete closure of both Crysler Avenue from E. 41st Terrace St. to E. 41st and Phelps Road from E. 42nd Terrace St. to E. 40th Terrace St. beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, until approximately Thursday, Nov. 1.
- There will be a complete closure of Pittman Road from E. 42nd Street to E. 41st Street beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 1, until approximately Thursday, Nov. 1.
These closures are for bridge replacements of the Pittman, Crysler, and Phelps bridges over I-70. The demolitions of the current bridges will require a COMPLETE CLOSURE of eastbound and westbound I-70 between I-435 and I-470 tentatively scheduled for the weekend of June 8. More information regarding that closure will be sent out in the coming days.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
