Bates County Route V CLOSED for Bridge Replacement &

Rehabilitation Beginning Week of June 4

Bates County – Bates County Route V north of Foster will be CLOSED starting the week of June 4 when the bridge over the Marais Des Cygnes River is replaced and the bridge over Pecan Creek is rehabilitated, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will replace the Marais Des Cygnes River with a longer, slightly wider bridge. The Pecan Creek bridge will get a new deck, or driving surface, and also will be slightly wider than the current structure.

The closure of Route V will encompass both bridges. Drivers will not be able to travel between SW 178 Road and NW 1002 Road.

No detour will be signed on this project. Drivers are urged to find alternate routes around the work zone.

Drivers can get to entrances on either end of the closure.  However, they will not be able to cross the bridges during construction.

Road signs and message boards will alert drivers to the bridge closings.

Weather and/or scheduling delays could alter the work schedule.

Project background:

  • Prime Contractor: Phillips Hardy Inc., Columbia
  • Completion Date: November 1, 2018 (However, the contractor expects Route V to reopen to traffic by mid-September)
  • Total project cost: $2.5 million
