HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, the first phase of resurfacing of approximately 7 miles of Missouri Route 15 in Shelby County will begin Thursday, June 21. The project will go from Missouri Route 168 at Shelbyville to just north of U.S. Route 36 at Shelbina.
“Crews will first perform full depth pavement repairs throughout the project. After the pavement repairs are complete, the two layers of asphalt will be put down,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Brian Haeffner. “A portion of the shoulders will be paved for safety,” he added. All work will be done in one lane at a time. There will be flaggers and a pilot car will lead motorists through the work zone. There is a 12’ width restriction in the work zone.
Chester Bross of Palmyra, Missouri was awarded the contract for $2,355,295. They have 125 calendar days to complete the project. Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone while the work is completed. Signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through this area, and obey all work zone signs and personnel. Remember always buckle up and put your phone down to eliminate distractions.
