KEYTESVILLE, Mo. – Plans are underway to replace two bridges on U.S. Route 24 just west of Keytesville. The Missouri Department of Transportation will host an open house on Wednesday, June 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the courtroom of the Chariton County Courthouse at 306 South Cherry Street in Keytesville. Designers and engineers from the Missouri Department of Transportation and their consulting firm will be on hand to discuss the construction plans for the new bridges and gather public input.
This will be an open house with no formal presentation. The public is invited to drop in any time and is encouraged to offer comments and ask questions. Participants will also have the opportunity to document their comments and sign up to be included on project updates via email.
Both bridges in this project were built in 1927 and rehabbed in 1940. More than 1,900 cars per day travel over these bridges, which have exceeded their intended lifespan. Most of the state’s 10,376 bridges were designed and built to last 50 years. The project is currently scheduled to go out for bid to contractors in June 2019.
If you are unable to attend the open house, a website with information about the projects is available at www.modot.org/northwest/major_projects/MusselFork24/. While there, be sure to sign up for our email list.
