Glenstone Avenue Pavement Rebuild

Update for Week of June 25
  • Evergreen Street on west side of Glenstone Avenue CLOSED Monday night, June 25 

Work Scheduled:  

  • Pouring concrete for street approach at Evergreen Street on west side of Glenstone Avenue
  • Pouring concrete for outside lanes of Glenstone Avenue in areas between I-44 and Kearney Street
  • Pouring concrete for outside lanes on Kearney Street at Glenstone Avenue
  • Pouring concrete to rebuild street and business entrances in areas between I-44 and Kearney Street
  • Pouring concrete to build medians in various locations
  • Installing guardrail
  • Applying pavement striping and installing traffic signal detector loops
  • Rebuilding sidewalks in areas 

Traffic Impacts:

  • NIGHTTIME SIDE STREET CLOSING:
    • Evergreen Street on west side of Glenstone Avenue CLOSED. Work hours: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, June 25.
    • Drivers urged to find alternate routes
  • Outside northbound and southbound lanes of Glenstone Avenue closed at Kearney Street and at Kerr/Evergreen Street ‘round the clock
  • Outside eastbound and westbound lanes of Kearney Street at Glenstone Avenue closed ‘round the clock
  • NO RIGHT TURNS AT EITHER INTERSECTION
  • By Wednesday, all lanes on Glenstone Avenue scheduled to open at Evergreen/Kerr Street intersection
  • One northbound and one southbound lane of Glenstone Avenue remains open most of the time
  • One eastbound and one westbound lane of Kearney Street remains open most of the time
  • Drivers can expect delays on Glenstone Avenue between Kearney Street and I-44 until July 4 

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.) 

Project Summary:

  • Rebuild the deteriorating concrete pavement on Glenstone Avenue in four separate locations
    • At Kerr/Evergreen Street south of I-44
    • At Kearney Street
    • At the railroad overpass north of Commercial Street
    • Between Lombard Street and Page Street
  • Sections at Kearney Street and at Evergreen Street under construction from May 29 until July 4
  • Sections at railroad overpass near Commercial Street and between Lombard Street and Page Street under construction starting in July or August
  • Total Project Cost: $3.7 million
  • Overall Completion Date: November 1, 2018
