Work set to begin on sinkhole off I-35 to Route 92 in Kearney

CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will make the following closures in order to repair a large sinkhole caused by an 18-inch metal pipe collapse below the driving surface. All work is weather dependent.

Crews will close the northbound off-ramp from I-35 to Route 92 from 7 p.m. Friday, July 6 until 5 a.m. Monday, July 9.

Crews will close the right lane of eastbound Route 92 at I-35 from 7 p.m. Friday, July 6 until 5 a.m. Monday, July 9.

Crews will close the right lane of eastbound Route 92 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily beginning Monday, July 9 and continuing through Wednesday, July 11 – and may intermittently close the same route during overnight hours.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
