REMINDER: Lane Reduction and Traffic Shift Scheduled for Douglas St. over I-470 Beginning July 11

LEE’S SUMMIT – The Missouri Department of Transportation will be shifting northbound and southbound Douglas Street traffic over I-470 to the southbound (west half) side of the Douglas Street Bridge beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, until 3 p.m. that afternoon. The northbound (east half) lanes of Douglas Street over I-470 will remain closed until approximately mid-September with traffic reduced to one lane in each direction flowing on the other side. This lane reduction and shift in traffic is so that crews can demolish and reconstruct the east half (northbound) side of the Douglas Street Bridge over I-470 tentative scheduled to begin on Friday, July 13.

  • Crews will close the right turn lane from southbound Douglas Street onto westbound I-470 beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, until approximately September.
  • Traffic will not be able to turn left from southbound Douglas Street onto eastbound I-470 beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, until approximately September.
  • Crews will close the right lane at northbound Douglas Street just south of the bridge over I-470.
